BOLTON, Marilyn Eaton age 76, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Marilyn was a native Daytonian, born in 1937. She graduated from Stivers High School and attended The Ohio State University briefly. Upon returning to Dayton, she went to work at GMAC, where she met her husband, Edward Bolton, who worked as a field representative for GMAC. They married in 1958, and started a family right away. Marilyn was a fun and creative homemaker, as well as a bookkeeper and helpmate for all of Ed's business ventures. Ed and Marilyn had 4 children, a son Christopher, who graduated from University of Dayton, and three daughters, Kathy, Julie, and Marienne, who all graduated from Miami University of Ohio. Marilyn was a lover of life, family, and friends. Any activity that brought her into contact with people was her thing--craft classes, bridge, golf, the Red Hat Society, Dayton Catholic Women's Club, Dayton Art Institute volunteer, theater and concert performances, visits to St Vincent DePaul, and of course her beloved parish, St Henry's. She was happiest when she had her whole family in the house for Christmas and loved all the decorations, presents, food and camaraderie that the holidays brought. Marilyn and Ed took many houseboat and leisure trips with their longtime circle of friends, "The Boat People". Marilyn was bit by the international travel bug later in her life and visited Canada, Europe, and London numerous times with her intrepid fellow travelers, her kids, and brother Dave. Mom was a strong supporter of Catholic church and education, providing consistent support to her children's high school, Alter, and her home parish, St Henry's. Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Edward James; her mother and father, Hubert and Lois Eaton, her oldest sister Barbara Pearson and Barbara's daughter Debbie Kinney. Marilyn was adored by and will be missed by her son Christopher, daughter Kathy and husband Ken Abbott, daughter Julie and husband Jerry Schweickart, and daughter Marienne Bolton, and two of her favorite people, her granddaughters: Emily Bolton and her partner Gabe Lipman of Burlington, Vermont, and Trixie Abbott of Columbus, OH. Marilyn is also survived by her brother, David Eaton and sister Becky Wood, and by her sister-in-law Carolyn Wheeler and husband, Bill. Visitation Sunday, January 12th, 2014 from 2-6:00 pm at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd, Kettering. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, January 13th at St. Henry's Catholic Church at 6696 Springboro Pike.
