BEALL, Martha L., age 90, passed away on January 21, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Irene (Stair) Rau, husband, Donald Beall, sister, Jane Rau, brothers, Jim Rau and Joe Rau, sisters in law, Helen (Metz) Rau, Rose Marie (Fleck) Rau, Dolores ( Mauch) Rau, and nephews Gary Rau and Ted Rau. She is survived by her brothers Paul Rau, Fred Rau and his wife Helen (Woeste) Rau and her eight children and their spouses: Susan (Lorin) Wolfe, Bonita (Toshio) Tamaki, Catherine (George) Wymer, Donald (Lori) Beall, Julie Beall and Tim Kambitsch, Chris Beall, Mark and (Laura) Beall, and Jane (John) Wittmann. Martha was devoted to her 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren who gave her great joy: Chris Wolfe and his wife Keziah Rosenberg, Catherine (Heinrich) Bornhorst, Leo Bornhorst, Max Bornhorst, Maya Tamaki, Taro Tamaki, Matt Wymer, Leah Wymer, Megan Beall, Marie Beall, Michael Beall, Jeff Beall, Steven Beall, Lucy (Dustin) Irwin, Helen Beall, Tammy Beall, Julie Wittmann, Tom Wittmann, and Danny Wittmann, all of whom can attest to her excellent skill in baking cookies. She also loved each of her 19 nieces and nephews. Martha was an active member and volunteer at St. Anthony Parish for over 60 years, and she enjoyed her membership at the Ace’s Athletic and Social Club for over 70 years. She loved playing cards and enjoyed her monthly club meetings with friends, many from high school (Doe Resh, Clara Stevenart, Lena Hickey, and Annette Haller), and St. Anthony parishioners. Sewing, quilting, painting, board games, and jigsaw puzzles were other activities she enjoyed, especially when they were associated with her family. Martha’s Holly Avenue porch was the gathering place for many summer evenings where she enjoyed the company and conversations of neighbors Anna Rosati, Ludy Elliott, Judy Smith, and many passerbys. The family would like to recognize the excellent care Martha received at 10 Wilmington Place and Vitas Healthcare Hospice during the last part of her life. Friends and family may visit from 4:30pm-8 pm on Wednesday, January 25 at Westbrock Funeral Home, Dayton. Mass of Christian Burial 10 am on Thursday, January 26 at St. Anthony Parish. Martha will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Vitas Hospice or The Hospice of Dayton.
