SCHENKING, Martha A. (Kahle) Age 81, of Dayton, died May 1st, 2010 at her home at Mercy Siena Woods. She was born February 21, 1929, in Lima, Ohio and grew up in Ottawa, Ohio. A graduate of St. Ritas Hospital School of Nursing (Lima), St. Mary's College (Indiana), and St. Louis University, she taught nursing at Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital School of Nursing (Detroit), St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, and Sinclair Community College. She loved teaching future nurses and by all accounts was excellent at it. She was a long-time member of St. Agnes Catholic Church where she had many good friends and support for her faith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Donald, her mother and father (George and Rose), and sister, Mary Margaret Kahle. She is survived by her brother, Rev. George Kahle, C.S.C.; daughters Ann, Joan, and Carol; son-in-law Ed Michael; close family members Mike Herrlein and Jerry Schenking; as well as many relatives and friends. Her family wishes to thank the staff of Mercy Siena Woods for the many years they took such loving care of her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday May 5, 2010, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 272 Bainbridge Street, Dayton, followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Avenue, Dayton.
