Mary Noreen Cummings

CUMMINGS, Mary Noreen (Deters), 66, of Centerville, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born August 14, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio to the late James Edward and Clara Jane Deters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Joan Taulbee, and her brothers in law Jef Franz and Aaron Taulbee. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Gary, her sons Bradley Cummings and Brian (Wesleigh) Cummings, and her 6 grandchildren, McKenzie, Samantha, Natalie, Paige, Seth, and Nathan. She is also survived by her sisters Jeri Franz and Bobbie(Joe) Dues, and her brothers Tom (Karen), Steve, and Mark (Carol Ann) Deters as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Noreen graduated from Fairmont East HS in 1966. Noreen went on to care for children at a number of daycares and in different homes. She loved these children as her own. Noreen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, and friend. She enjoyed life to the fullest and dearly loved her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
We now know why so many cancer obituaries speak of the "courageous battle." Noreen fought a number of different cancers for the past 12 years. She never complained, never gave up, and always managed to laugh. Many thanks to the countless, thoughtful individuals for your phone calls, cards and notes, flowers, meals, visits, tokens of strength and acts of kindness. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Noreen’s nurses at Hospice as well as her in home providers - Heather, Erica, and Jennifer.
Visitation will be on December 1, 2014 from 4 pm – 7 pm at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd. Dayton, OH 45440. The burial will take place on December 2, 2014 at 11am at Miami Cemetery, 4379 Old State Route 73 East - Corwin, Ohio. Following the burial, all are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life at the Lions Grange Center in Bellbrook located at 2757 Wilmington Dayton Road.
