Mary R. Hart, née Rudzienski, age 97, of Dayton, OH, passed away peacefully in her home at 10 Wilmington Place in the early hours of Monday, December 21, 2020.
Mary was born in Dayton, Ohio on December 4, 1923, the youngest of five children of Kazimierz and Anna Rudzienski, née Czaplainski, who emigrated from Poland. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Albert. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael Hart (his wife Anastasia, deceased) of Auburn, Washington; Joseph and JoEllen Hart of Littleton, Colorado; Anne and John Hassoun of Falls Church, Virginia; David and Michelle Hart of Loveland, Ohio; Paula and Scott Milligan of Vandalia, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Justin and Mary Anne Hart; Danielle Hassoun; Kimberly Hart; Nicole and Preet Gadh; Ean Milligan; and Clarissa Milligan.
Mary will be remembered by her family and friends as one of the most loving and caring souls to grace this earth. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball, riding her bicycle all over East Dayton, and was among the very few to own and drive a car; she jokingly referred to herself as a tomboy. Mary had a beautiful singing voice and was a member of the church choir. In her adulthood, Mary was a bookkeeper in the payroll department at Sheffield and was ever the accountant at home. She cared deeply for everyone in her life, raising five children while simultaneously taking care of her parents and mother-in-law in their later years. She was proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed conversing in Polish with her siblings.
She was an avid card player and was very fond of mystery stories. She passed these enjoyments down to her children and grandchildren, which in some small way will keep her memory alive.
Mary was a strong, active Catholic, and a member of Daughters of Isabella, The Rosary Altar Society, and Free Spirits at Immaculate Conception Parish. She possessed a strong will and was always ready to help those in need.
