Mary Jane iscoll Burns

Burns, Mary Jane Driscoll, age 92 went to heaven from her home on August 22, 2015.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Burns Fitzsimmons and son-in-law Stephen Fitzsimmons; grandsons Robert (Tony) and wife Betty Choi Fitzsimmons, Mark and wife Debbie Bishop Fitzsimmons; great grandchildren Andrew, Elizabeth (Liza,) William (Liam,) and Stephen. Other relatives include sister-in-law Anne Burns Hillenbrand and her children Melanie, Roch, Karola, Eric, Monica and Christopher Hillenbrand. She also has cousins in Driscoll, Koors, Pauzar families.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Dr. Ray E. Burns, M.D.; their son James Burns and their other seven babies; her parents Bernard and Isabel (Koors) Driscoll.
Mary Jane graduated from Dayton, Ohio Catholic schools Holy Angels Elementary (1937), Julienne High School (41), and the University of Dayton (44.) She was a business woman managing rental properties and investments. Mary Jane was active with Our Lady of Mercy parish, girl scout leader, volleyball coach, Dayton Christ Child Society, Good Samaritan Hospital Auxillary, Dayton Catholic Woman’s Assn, and University of Dayton parents’ board. Mary Jane and Ray Burns were benefactors of St. Walburg Monastery, Mount Notre Dame, Dayton St. Vincent de Paul organizations and missions in India.
Mary Jane loved and played tennis into her 80’s in Englewood, Dayton, and Springboro. She excelled at golf into her 80’s also as a member of Kittyhawk Women’s Golf Assn, Dayton District Women’s Golf Assn, Yankee Trace and Heatherwood golf clubs. Mary Jane loved to travel in their motorhome visiting as many casinos along the way.
Mary Jane’s Catholic faith gave her strength throughout her life.
Visitation with family will be held at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45410 on Thursday, August 27 from 1-3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 115 S. Main St., Franklin, Ohio 45005. Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
