MATRE, Mary Jo age 52, passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday December, 28, 2012. She was comforted and cared for by her beloved, longtime companion, Dennis Cox, whose devotion for her never waivered during all of their years together. We are grateful to the staff at Lamplight Assisted Living for their compassionate care and to Vitas Hospice for all of their help. A special thank you to her BFF, Patty, who always brightened her days. Mary Jo attended Alter High School and graduated with the Class of 1978. She also graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was employed by DP&L where she had a long and enjoyable career. Mary Jo was a wonderful and generous daughter, sister and aunt. Her kindness, sense of humor, and a lifetime of memories will never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Rita; her father, Dr. William J. Matre; and her brother, Tom. She leaves to cherish her memory, Dennis Cox; Dr. William M. Matre; Sally Matre; Lisa Fleming; Andrea Adams; Monica Belcher; Dr. Jeff Matre and all of their families. The family will have a private service and burial at a later date.
