Mary Ann Spearin

SPEARIN, Mary Ann died at St. Leonard Senior Living Community on Thursday, September 7, 2017.She was born on March 23, 1925 in Superior, Wisconsin to Al and Emma (Reittinger) Spearin. She graduated from Julienne High School in 1943, St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing 1946 and University of Dayton 1954. She was employed at St. Elizabeth (Franciscan Medical Center) in several positions over 57 years. The last 12 years she was a volunteer at the Medical Center. Part of her joy was a garden she planted and tended at the hospital. When the hospital closed she moved the garden to St. Leonard Senior Living Community. She purchased from the Medical Center Liquidators the original St. Elizabeth Statue which was associated with St. E for over 120 years. The statue adorns the garden she planted and tended after moving it in 2002. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 pm on Friday, September 15 at St. Leonard’s Chapel. Friends may visit from 12:00 pm until time of mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Leonard’s Benevolent Fund or the St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, in memory of Mary Ann. Arrangements entrusted to Westbrock Funeral Home.
