Marylouise R. Braun

Marylouise Rita Braun, beloved by her family, church community and many friends went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2025 at Kettering Hospital, after a brief illness. Born on August 7, 1960 in Dayton, Ohio. She graced the lives of those around her with her love, kindness and caring for all who knew her.

Marylou's career in education spanned three decades during which she imparted knowledge and inspiration as a teacher at Valley View Schools for 24 years. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom; she also dedicated six years to the Educational Service Center, where she focused on “gifted” students. A proud alumna of Northmont High School, Marylou graduated in 1978 and continued her academic journey at the University of Dayton, earning her undergraduate degree in 1982. She successfully negotiated the business world before realizing her passion was education and earned her Masters in Education from the University of Dayton in 1993, solidifying her commitment to lifelong learning. She was recognized with an award as a National Board Certified Teacher and she truly had an unwavering dedication to nurturing the minds of her students.

Her never-ending love for horses began at least at the age of sixteen. She owned and rode many wonderful horses (and a few not so wonderful) during her many years of Cross Country Eventing and later Dressage. Despite the demands of competitive riding, it brought her much happiness and great memories. Along with her husband, Joe, she restored a small farm that was their home for 25 years.

An adventurer at heart, Marylou loved traveling in the USA each summer. In recent years, Joe persuaded her to bicycle in Europe including along the Danube River and around many of Denmark's islands. It was through much training and commitment that they prepared for these trips. They were truly “wowed” by the beauty of the varied cultures and landscapes.

Marylou was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she was a cantor and choir member and had served in other capacities including RCIA sponsor and catechist.

She treasured both her family and Joe's, and they in turn loved her.

Marylou was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edwin and Rita (Mackel) Boshinski, who undoubtedly instilled in her values of kindness, perseverance, and love for learning.

She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Joseph Braun. He truly stood by her side through life's many journeys.

She leaves behind a tight-knit family, including her brothers, Tom (Anne) Boshinski, Bill (Debbie) Boshinski, Jim (Danusia) Boshinski.

Nieces and Nephews: Joe, Katie, Christine, Andrew, Petr and their spouses. Great nieces and nephews: Claire, Juliette, Sophia, Leif, Wade and Hadley.

Her Cherished Godchildren honor her memory Joe Boshinski, Andrew Boshinski and Juliette Sparks. She leaves many wonderful cousins and her Cioci Joni and Uncle Bob.

The Braun family also mourns the loss of Marylou, including her sister-in-law MaryAnn (Steve) Nemergut, and Florence (David) Taylor, Brothers-in-law Paul (Sally) Braun, Thomas Braun, Peter (Amy) Braun, Michael (Carol) Braun.

Nieces and Nephews: Francisco, Amanda, Paul Matthew, Carolyn, Peter, Justin, Keith, and Melissa and their spouses. Great Nieces and Nephews: Declan, Mia, Noah, Isaiah, Eloise, Henry, Mars, Olympia and Micah born on March 28, 2025.

Throughout her life, Marylou cultivated numerous friendships, including a lifelong bond with her elementary Catholic school friend Anne Lindsey.
