Michael Smith

SMITH, Michael T. (Mike) age 78, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann (nee Utz) and daughters Rachel Smith and Becky (Steve) Shaffer. Mike, a native and life long resident of Dayton, graduated from Holy Angels grade school, Chaminade High School and the University of Dayton. He was retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base after 30 years service, a more than 50 year member of St. Rita Parish, and a member of Miami Valley Golf Club. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy F. and Marie F. Smith (nee Michel), his brother Robert F. Smith, aunt Clara Michel and in-laws Joseph H. and Ann G. Utz. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 3 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, 10:30 AM at St. Rita Catholic Church, preceded by a prayer service 9:45 at the funeral home. Internment at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the mass. Donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Michael's name, envelopes available at the funeral home.
