Nancy Meier

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy, who left us peacefully on August 15th, 2024, at the age of 94. She was attended to the end by her devoted husband of 70 years, Thomas J. Meier, and was surrounded by her loving family when she passed.

A lifelong resident of Detroit, Nancy graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School in 1949. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she enjoyed baking, flowers, and all things Snoopy. When she was in her 40s, Nancy went back to school and completed her degree. Her home was often filled with the smell of her famous Yum-Yums, and her love and wisdom will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

Nancy Meier is survived by her children: Joseph (Connie) Meier, Father Timothy Meier SJ, Ann Meier (Glenn) Carli, Mary (Stephen) Grech, grandchildren: Lauren (Steve) Enneking, Rachael (David) Scott, Hope (Michael) Brunette, David (Emily) Carli, John (Kaitlyn) Carli, Aileen (Marcus) LaJeunesse, Joshua (Brianna) Carli, and great-grandchildren: Graham, Grayson, Graham, Asa, Charles, Thomas, Madeline, Henry, Theodore, Eleanor, Emaline, Alice, Evelyn, and Elliott Mae [the little red-headed girl].

She is preceded in death by her parents: Edwin Thomas Edwards and Aline Kay Hattery Edwards, her siblings: Albert Bloomfield Edwards ("Tom"), Otho David Edwards, Mary Alice Graham, Jane Kenney, and Helen Edwards, as well as her youngest son, Thomas John Meier II.

Plans for the memorial services celebrating Nancy's life will be posted here soon. In the interim, in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton in Nancy's honor.
