WERNER (Smith), Norinne R., age 81, was taken by angels to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 20th at 11:56am in the comfort of her Kettering home, surrounded by her family. Norinne was born on April 6, 1935 in Dayton, OH to the late Herbert and Norinne Smith. In addition to her parents, Norinne is preceded in death by her brothers Herbert, Jack, Thomas and Kevin. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Ken (Bud) and children Kathleen (Jonathan), Jim (Anita), Susan (Bob), Kay (David), and Melissa (Glenn); Grandchildren Nicole, Kenny, Krista, Andy, Bobby, Alysa, Jordan, Zak, Grace, Madison and Jack; Great Grandchildren Grady, Kaden, and J.J., and by her sister Karen (Bob). Norinne graduated from Julienne High School in 1953. She was inducted into The CJ Hall of Fame in 1992 and retired from AAA in 1995. Norinne was one of three members of The Gullikson Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee which awarded over 140 college scholarships per year as well as a $10,000 scholarship in her name. Norinne was an avid tennis player and baseball fan and faithfully rooted for the Cincinnati Reds. In the 1990’s, she played on two USTA State of Ohio championship teams. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 2:30 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering, OH. Arrangements by Westbrock Funeral Home, Bigger Rd. Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 for their countless hours of care and loving kindness.
