Dr. Patrocino (Pat) Cruz passed away on August 11, 2012 at the age of 73. Born in Baler, Quezon in the Philippines on February 12, 1939 to the late Jacobina and Ernesto Gaela, Dr. Cruz immigrated to the United States in 1969 with her husband, Virgil (Gil) Cruz to practice medicine. Dr. Cruz joined Grandview and Southview Hospital as a pathologist in 1978 following her residency at Miami Valley Hospital.

Dr. Cruz remains lovingly known by her friends and family as Tita Pat. She is preceded in death by her sister Loida Torres, brother Wilfredo Gaela and nephew Gilbert Gaela. Tita Pat is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Gil, along with her brother Emmanuel Gaela, 4 daughters, 6 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 16 at Westbrock Funeral Homes (5980 Bigger Rd, Kettering) from 4-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi (6245 Wilmington Pike, Dayton) at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 17. Burial service to immediately follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens located off of SR 48 (1639 East Lytle-Five Points Rd, Centerville). A reception will be held after the burial at St. Francis of Assisi
