HORSTMAN, PENELOPE "PENNY" 67, of Kettering passed on January 15, 2012 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Helen and Jerry Poeppelmeier. Penny was a graduate of the University of Dayton with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. She was a Catholic school teacher and administrator for over 30 years. Penny taught Math and Religion for over 15 years at St. Anthony Elementary School and served as Principal at Resurrection School in Dayton, St. Ann's School in Cincinnati and St. Charles Borromeo School in Kettering. She was an avid reader, lifelong teacher and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling to the beach and watching UD Basketball games. Penny recently traveled to Orlando, FL to cheer on the Flyers. Penny is survived by her husband Paul of 45 years, son, Matthew (Crystal) Horstman of Troy, daughter, Beth Zugelder of Dayton, grandchildren: Zachary and Ashley Zugelder, Jordan and Jessica Horstman and Jackie Brown, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Jim Thomeczek of Beavercreek, Diane and John Haemmerle of Columbus, Mark and Janet Horstman of Columbus and many nieces and nephews and dear friends, Toni Moore and Brother Mike O'Grady S.M.. At her request Penny's Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Anthony Church where she received all her other Sacraments. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 18th from 4:00-7:30 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road, Kettering.
