Peter (Pete) Spanel, 87, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 31, 1924. One of Dayton's most beloved entrepreneurs, Pete opened AAA Radio and TV Services in 1946, a business still carried on by his son. He was regarded fondly by his many loyal customers and friends on Dayton's west side. Before starting his own business, Pete worked as a draftsman in the engineer design department at NCR and in his family's grocery store. Pete was proud of his Italian American heritage and loved Italian food and music. He was a talented accordion player and performed with the Michael Hauer Accordion Band in the forties. Pete will be most remembered as a family man adored by his wife of 56 years, Claudette, and his seven children whom he loved, taught, and guided. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, and mother, Mary, and his dear grandson Benjamin Peter Krafka. He is survived by his loving wife, Claudette, children, Joseph (Linda) Spanel, Mary (Aaron) Rodgers, Grace (Bill) Ninneman, Claudette (Mark) Groeber, Angela (Tim) Hall, Linda (Frank) Krafka, and Patricia (Kent) Krafka, and grandchildren, Andrea (Andy) Schinkal, Maria (Sam) Grassbaugh, Peter and Teresa Spanel, Sarah, Emily, Billy, Hannah, and Molly Rodgers, Laura (Rollin) McIntosh, Bob, Claudia and Erica Ninneman, Matthew Groeber, Tim (Liz), Amanda and Mary Hall, Frank, Anthony, and Michael Krafka, Kathryn, Oliver, and John Krafka, and special friends, Dale and Barbara White and family. He will be forever missed by his many loved ones and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, January 13th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave, Dayton, 45410. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 14th at Emmanuel Catholic Church, Dayton. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery
