BRUN, Raymond F., age 95 of Kettering, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018. He was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late, Louis and Edith (Boll) Brun. Also preceding him in death is his wife, Mary “Peachy” Brun in 2001; son, Timothy Brun; great-grandson, Alexander Lopane; brothers, Lawrence, Jerry, Clarence, William, Charles, Walter, and Eddie Brun. He is survived by 4 children, Marlene (Tom) O’Rourke, Gary (Beverly) Brun, Ronald (Rita) Brun, Geryl “Gee” (Karl) Whisman; 9 grandchildren, Stacy (Michael) Lopane, Lori (Mike) Frantz, Tom (Jessica) O’Rourke, Kristy Brun, Ryan Brun, Justin (Lauren) Brun, Brandon Whisman, Rachael Whisman, and Phillip Whisman; brother, George Brun and sister, Rita Heider; sisters-in-law, Lois Brun, Barbara Brun, and Ella Brun; 10 great-grandchildren, and many other extended family and friends.
Raymond was a proud World War II veteran, having served in the U.S Army, 5th Armored Division, in various European campaigns, such as the Battle of Normandy, Rhineland, and Ardennes. Raymond was the recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 bronze stars. He was also presented a medal for the liberation of France. After serving his country, Raymond enjoyed a 35-year career as an Engineering Technician in the Aero Propulsion Laboratory at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
Friends and family may visit from 4-8pm on Tuesday, July 17 at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave, Dayton, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, July 18 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. He will then be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
