LaGARDE, Raymond E., age 83 of Dayton, Ohio died peacefully at home on January 22, 2018. Ray was born June 1, 1934 in Brockton, Mass. to the late, Albert J. and Delia (Dupuy) LaGarde. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Albert, Richard, Donald, Robert and Leonard. Following his years as a tool and die maker at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, Conn., Ray retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Correction after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Dayton Riverdale Optimist Club and the American Gold Wing Association and a life member of the NRA and the Elks. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis (Schenking) LaGarde; brother, L. Joseph LaGarde; sister-in-law, Mary LaGarde; daughters, Doreen McCabe and Michelle Duquette; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the staffs at Oak Creek Nursing Home and Vitas Hospice for their care and compassion. Friends and family may visit from 3:00-6:00 pm on Friday, January 26th at The Westbrock Funeral Home, Dayton. A prayer service will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 27th at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:30am at Emmanuel Catholic Church. Ray will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
