De Bard, Dr. Richard, age 91, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away at Hospice of Dayton on March 3, 2015. He was born in Lakewood, OH, preceded in death by his parents, and infant son Matthew and infant granddaughter Renee De Bard. He was a Life Member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association, Life Member of Staffs of Grandview and Southview Hospitals, the Ohio Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic College of Family Medicine. He was a 1941 graduate of Fairmont High School where he played Gershwin’s “Rhapsody In Blue” as piano soloist at the Senior Concert. He graduated from the University of Dayton and Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He interned at Grandview Hospital and was certified in Family Practice. He became a caring, compassionate, family doctor in Centerville, OH, for 36 years. He was a Charter Member of the Church of the Incarnation in Centerville. He was an accomplished pianist and his professional music career started at age 14 with the Michael Hauer Orchestra and he was the last surviving member. Dr. De Bard was a veteran of WWII serving with the 517th Paratroop Combat Team in Europe. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Joella, son Dr. Mark De Bard (Linda) of Columbus, OH, son Michael De Bard (Ann), Beavercreek, OH, daughter Francee (Marie-France) De Bard, Washington Township, OH, also
8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial 10:30am Monday at Incarnation Catholic Church in Centerville. Father Jim Manning will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road, from 2-5pm. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton and The American Diabetes Association.
