Richard J. "Dick" Martin

Martin, Richard J., age 81 of Xenia passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday September 30, 2018, at his home, surrounded by family and love. Richard served the United States Air Force in a career spanning 35 years, first as a Lieutenant, then as a Civilian at the Propulsion Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratories (AFRL). Richard spent his free time selflessly serving his family, friends, church and community, traveling with his wife, entertaining at his home, and studying God’s Word. Richard was a member of the Patterson Park Church, a quiet but devout Christian, and an example of God’s love, mercy and tenderness all of his days. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Don Running of Montana; two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Greta of Utah, Eric and Cindy of Springfield; six grandchildren, Anna, Peter, Isaac, Leah, Ruth and Emily. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday October 14 at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave., Reverend Paul Pyle officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:30 pm until time of service at the funeral home. Donations may be made to World Vision or Patterson Park Church, envelopes available at the funeral home.
