Rita Finke

FINKE, Rita C. (Duncavage) age 84, died October 22, 2008 in Davidson, NC after a long illness with COPD. She was born on October 2, 1924 to Helen and Joe Duncavage in Tamaqua, PA. She had two older brothers, Joseph (deceased) and Walter. Through an academic scholarship, she received her undergraduate degree from Albright College and a masters degree from Syracuse University. While working at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton, she met Paul who became her husband of 58 years. On April 15, 1950, they married and together they raised five children in Kettering, OH. She would always say she loved raising her family. Rita was an avid reader, gardener as well as an accomplished artist working with oils, acrylics and watercolors. Rita is survived by her husband, Paul; daughters Carol Packer (Gary), Indiana, Teresa Schindelholz (Robert), NC; Gayle Dieckhoff (John), Kettering; Mary Siegrist (Ronald), CA; Son Paul (Julie), NC; and brother Walter (Ann), FL. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren; John Dieckhoff, Brian Dieckhoff, Gary Packer Jr., Matthew Schindelholz, Jennifer Dieckhoff, Laura Schindelholz, Joseph Packer, Emily Siegrist, Paul Finke, Adam Finke and Sarah Finke. Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 noon at St. Albert the Great Church, Monday October 27. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 noon Monday at the church. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family requests contributions may be made to Hospice of Davidson, NC, envelopes available at the church. Arrangements by the Westbrock Funeral Home.
