ARTMAN, Robert E. "Bob"
Age 83, of Beavercreek, passed away February 9, 2015, at Trinity Community. Bob was born on Oct. 8, 1931, in Buffalo, New York to Albert Artman and Grace Compton Artman, who both preceded him in death. Bob graduated from Williamsville High School in 1949 and graduated from the University of Cincinnati where he was awarded a BS degree in Business Administration. Bob spent two years in the Army, serving in Germany. After his military service, Bob worked for Bell Laboratories and Calspan in Buffalo, New York. Bob and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1973, and soon afterwards he became the Personnel Director of the University of Dayton Research Institute until his retirement in 1994. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Patricia "Pat" (Weppner) Artman, who passed away in 2005, and by his son James C. Artman, who passed away in 2014. Bob is survived by his sister, Bette Wendin, of Hawaii, daughter, Judith L. Artman of Maryland, his daughter-in-law, Carol Artman, of Farmersville, Ohio, and grandchildren Stephanie Edwards, Angel Turner, Jessica Turner, and James Artman, Jr. and six great-grandchildren. Bob had a fantastic sense of humor and had countless friends who enjoyed being with him. He was a devoted family man, enjoyed playing golf and attending sporting events or watching them on TV. There will be no public viewing but friends are invited to a Memorial Service at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road, Kettering, Ohio 45440, on Sunday, February 15, 2015. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm and the service will take place at 3:00pm. Bob's cremated remains will be interred next to his wife's in Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Buffalo, NY, in the spring of 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association, or to a charity of your choice.
