Huesman, Robert A. "Tony", 51, of Washington Township, passed away August 9, 2009. Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Roman and Mary Schwieterman, paternal grandparents R.J. and Gladys Huesman, mother Carol L. and sister Linda Huesman Lamb. He is survived by his wife Carol, father Rob, nieces Ashley and Stacia Lamb and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He graduated from Alter High School in 1975, attended Miami University and worked at Tuffy Brooks Sporting Goods for 32 years. He was president and founder of the Huesman Heart Foundation which is committed to the prevention of heart disease through the education of children. To that end Tony authored three children's books: Heart Smart, There are Some Things More Important than Baseball and His Only Hope. His foundation has provided free educational programs and books to many elementary school children throughout the Miami Valley and Tony is affectionately known as "the heart guy" by thousands of children in the Dayton area. Some of Tony's honors include: American Heart Association Heart of Dayton and Service to Heart Awards, the Miami University President's Medal Award, the Kettering Holiday at Home Grand Marshall, Alter High School Hall Fame Distinguished Alumni, Presidential Daily Points of Light Award, Dayton Area Heart Association Affair of the Heart Award Winner, Life Connections Humanitarian Award, Kettering Kiwanis Citizen of the Year, USSSA Softball Legend Award. Additionally, Tony's contributions to his community have been recognized by three United States Presidents. As the longest living, single donor heart transplant recipient, Tony lived every day with one purpose: "It doesn't really matter when we die, how we die or why we die. What really matters though is how we live? and the hearts and souls of those we touch along the way." Visitation will be held, Wednesday, August 12th from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road, Kettering 45440. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 13th at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family please asks that memorial contributions be made to The Huesman Heart Foundation.
