Robert Louis Smock, born April 21, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio, died November 8, 2009 from a stroke he had in January. Robert was the son of Harold and Donna Smock and brother of Richard Smock all from Dayton and all deceased. Robert is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Loretta, his Daughter, Karen Hemker and husband, Jeff of Bolingbrook, Il, his son, Mark Smock, and wife, Marilyn from Scottsdale, AZ and daughter, Connie Penrod and husband, Jeff of Alexandria, KY. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Anthony Hemker, Gary Hemker, Amy Hemker-Wengel of Illinois and Natalie Penrod and Quent Penrod of Kentucky, Dana and Travis Smith of Arizona. He also has six great grandchildren: Kaylee, Christopher, Cassi, Sydney and Zachary Hemker and Abby Wengel. Robert graduated from the University of Dayton and spent 40+ years in various management positions with Frigidaire and consequently with White Consolidated Industries before retiring in 1994. Robert was a dedicated and dependable employee with many resulting friends and work associates here within the Dayton area.As a husband, father, grandfather, friend and co-worker, Robert led his life on high moral ground, always a man you could trust and depend, consistently setting the best example he could for his generations to come. He enjoyed his family and friends, a challenging golf hole, a good card game and his wife's home cooking. He will be missed, yet his constant presence felt. May he rest in peace.Visitation will be held Friday, November 13th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road, Kettering. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 14th at St. Charles Borromeo Church.
