Robert (Bob) Nicholas White, age 73, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in the comforting presence of family and friends. Bob was born December 11, 1942, in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Nicholas Frederick White and Virginia Cecilia (Strickland) White. He is survived by his loving wife, Minnie Lou (Gupton) White, their children Stephen (Karen), Daniel, Brian (Annie), Gina (Staten), Nicholas (Jennifer), Kathleen, Travis, and Beth (Mark). Bob is also survived by 15 grandchildren; his sisters Pat, Diane, Janet (Don), brother Don (Brenda), and close family friends, the Germanns. Bob served in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Submarine Service on the USS Lafayette (SSBN-616) and then worked with the Eaton Corporation as an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer for over 20 years until he retired. In recent years, Bob enjoyed working part-time at Dorothy Lane Market at Washington Square and was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Avenue, Dayton, Ohio. A Traditional Latin Requiem Mass will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 140 S. Findlay, Dayton, Ohio. There will be no viewing before the Mass. Bob will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Dayton VA Hospice Fund, 4100 W. Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428.
