Hoying, Rosalie A, age 98, of Spring Hill, Florida passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022. Rosalie was born on October 12, 1923 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to Peter Thompson and Frances (Rolape) Thompson. She grew up in Dayton, Ohio and on June 9th 1948 Rosalie married Leonard Hoying, son of Francis and Elizabeth Hoying. Rosalie and Leonard settled in Dayton, Ohio where they raised 9 children. In 1977 the moved to Spring Hill, Florida. Rosalie was trained as a nurse during WW2 and was one of 2 volunteers to go overseas. Fortunately the war ended and she was relieved of that duty. Her passion was art and drew and painted every chance she got. After raising 9 children and moving to Florida she renewed her skills as a surgical nurse and worked until well into her eighties. She also continued her art until her passing. Rosalie is preceded in death by her husband Leonard R. Hoying; her brothers, James and John Thompson and sisters, Mary Austin, Ann Wey and her twin sister Rita Angerer and also her grandson Gerard Gornes. She is survived by her children; Theresa Brown, Jeanette Perkins, Andrew Hoying, Joseph Hoying, Gregory Hoying, Helen Gornes, John Hoying, Nicolas Hoying and Loretta Smith. There is also 33 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Rosalie will be at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave, Dayton, Ohio on Thursday, October 6th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. A Mass will be given on Friday, October 7th at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 2300 S. Smithville Rd, Dayton, Ohio. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Rd, Dayton, Ohio. A reception will follow the burial. Details will be given at that time.
