Roscoe Dyke

DYKE, Roscoe T. age 101 of Trinity Community of Beavercreek, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009. Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents, Michael B. and Ella C.; his wife, Eleanor M. in 1976. He is survived by a daughter, Joanne Shoemaker; granddaughters, Marcia Breitfield (Rick), Rebecca Sanford (David), Karen Cahillane (Mathew); five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. "Uncle Roscoe" was a 38 year employee of McCalls Publishing and Midwestern Life Insurance. He taught Dale Carnegie Courses at Miami Jacobs College and General Motors. Known for his "Old Soldier Comedy Act" he believed that "you make a living by what you get, but a life by what you give". He volunteered at Gospel Mission and Hospice. A life long 32 degree member at the John W. Durst Lodge # 716, VFW, Toast Masters International and St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 AM, with services following on Monday at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave. Burial, Forrest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice.
