Ruth Hartke

HARTKE, Ruth M. (nee Rammel) Age 84, of Dayton, Ohio, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2008. She was born on 4-4-24 in St. Henry, OH to the late Charles and Josephine Rammel. She was a graduate of St. Henry High, and after raising 9 children, worked for 20 years as a head cook at St. Anthony school and retired from there in 2000. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, and sang in the Church choir for many years. Ruth was a devoted and faithful parishioner, an excellent cook, seamstress, and before losing her vision, played in a canasta card club for over 45 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sy Hartke, son Gregory, sister, Dot Rammel, and brother Moe Rammel; and many in-laws on the Hartke side. She leaves to mourn two sisters, Charlyn Stammen (late Ralph), Kathleen Buschur (Gene) of Coldwater, Ohio and brother, Kenny Rammel (Shirley) of St. Henry, Ohio, sister-in-law Joan Rammel, sister-in-law Velma Hartke, brother-in-law George Beals. Remaining children: sons Dan (Cheryl), Joe (Gina), Mark (Carol), Paul (Joyce), Tim (Kathy); daughters, Linda (Alan) Chenoweth, Julia Flohre, Bev (Rich) Mitchell, all from the Dayton, Ohio area; also 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave. on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 4:00-8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony Church, 10 am, Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, preceded by a prayer service 9:30 am at the funeral home. Burial, Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either St. Anthonys or Hospice of Dayton. Envelopes available at the funeral home.
