LONG, Steven, passed away on May 6, 2017 at home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous fight against lung cancer. Born on October 19, 1952 to Eugene and Margaret Long, he is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Terri; two daughters, Nichol (Keith) Stasienko and Jennifer Long; two grandchildren, Reilly and Brady; siblings, Robert (Judy), Mary Anne (Joseph), Charles (Kathy), Richard (Jean), Jerry (Noreen); his beloved dogs, Callie and Murphy, and numerous relatives and friends. He worked for 36 years at ABF Freight Systems. He enjoyed singing, home remodeling, stained glass work, and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a smile for everyone and never knew a stranger. He loved Ohio State and Washington Redskins football and UD basketball. A celebration of his life will be held at Westbrock Funeral Home, Kettering, 4-8 pm on Tuesday, May 9 and Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Rosary 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 10. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Dayton, or Kettering Cancer Center in his honor. The family would like to thank Dr. Malek Safa and Dr. Ronald Hale for their dedicated and compassionate work with cancer and the entire team at Kettering Cancer Center and Hospice of Dayton for their wonderful care.
