Thomas E. Drerup, 73, of Washington Twp, OH, passed away on September 16, 2023. He was born on December 3, 1949, in Dayton, OH, to the late Robert and Elizabeth Drerup. Tom was a devoted husband to his wife Suzanne and a loving father to his children: Wendy Miller, Scott (Lesley) Drerup, Adam (Sharon) Drerup, and Cindi (Jason) Threlkeld. He was also a proud Grampa to: Sarah Miller (fiance Austin Osborne), Lexi Drerup, Will Drerup, Laini Drerup, Natalie Miller, Kylie Threlkeld, Kaleb Threlkeld, and Keaton Threlkeld. He is survived by his brothers, Robert (Grytha) Drerup and Edwin (Helen) Drerup, and numerous other relatives. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Joanne Drerup and Judy (Robert) Long, and grandson Matthew Miller.

Tom had a generous nature and was always there for his loved ones. He had a sharp sense of humor that kept conversations lively. Tom enjoyed playing in his golf league and spending time with his family and church. He loved capturing special family moments through videos and photographs. Tom was quietly generous and never sought recognition for his acts of kindness. His family was his greatest joy in life.

Tom attended Chaminade High School, then furthered his studies at Sinclair Community College. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Wright State University and a Master's Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. Tom was proud to be a graduate of the FBI National Academy class #182.

Tom's career began in 1969 as a Police Cadet with the Kettering Police Department. The following year, he became a sworn officer, assuming IBM #196. Throughout his 28 year tenure, Tom served in various roles, including Public Information Officer in the Community Relations Section. He was promoted to Sergeant and Lieutenant, leading various projects before retiring in 1997. Tom then embarked on a second career at Clark State Community College, where he worked for 30 years as a Professor and Program Coordinator for the Criminal Justice program. He took great pride in helping young adults achieve their dreams of becoming police officers.

Tom worshipped at St Mary's Catholic Church, where he found solace and community. He also dedicated his time volunteering at the St Mary's food pantry and was an active member of the St Mary's Alumni Association.

In his leisure time, Tom enjoyed golfing and watching the Dallas Cowboys play football. He was often found taking videos at one of his grandchildren's sporting events or concerts. He had a passion for computers and technology, always staying up to date with the latest Apple devices.
