Timothy John Collins, age 73, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. He was born on July 11, 1948 in Dayton to the late Charles Homer and Catherine (Finch) Collins.
Tim was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his children: sons, Michael and Peter; daughter, Clare (Ryan) Schnizlein; their mother, Tim’s former wife Sally Zwiesler Collins; grandchildren, Taylor, Quinn, and Owen Collins; Violet and Oliver Schnizlein; brother, Dennis (Barbara); sisters Pat (Ted Baxter), Peggy (John McNees), and Teresa (Bob) Lehnert; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Tim lived in the Five Oaks neighborhood most of his life and attended Corpus Christi School/Church and Chaminade High School. He graduated from Sinclair College and was retired from his career as a title searcher. Tim was a natural athlete and excelled at any sport he played, including completing two marathons. He was also an avid sports fan, attending his children and grandchildren’s games as well as UD basketball and Reds’ games. In addition to being devoted to his family, Tim liked to fish, collect memorabilia, and had a well-known love of donuts, cookies, and all things sweet!
Above all Tim was a man of faith. His faith supported him through challenges in his life bringing him strength, comfort, and peace. He loved God and the church community. He was active in his faith, most recently as a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church where he served as an usher and volunteered with St. Vincent DePaul Society. Tim was a man of outstanding kindness, courage, integrity, and humility. And we all enjoyed his wry wit. He lived his life by setting a good example for all of us to follow and will be remembered for his goodness and how much people liked him.
Tim is deeply missed in this world. His legacy lives on in his family and all of us who love him. The best way to honor his life is by being kind and generous to others.
