Velma C Waker

WAKER, Velma C., age 93 of Riverside passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019. She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on June 4, 1925 to the late, Thomas Harrison and Mary (Jacks) Spears. Also preceding her in death is her husband, Robert Waker in 2006, brother, Thomas Spears and sisters Katie Bledsoe and Marilyn Spears. Velma is survived by her loving children, Kathy (Douglas) Hill, Robert L Waker, Jr, Diane Moorman; 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond (Pamela) Spears, David (Linda) Spears and many other extended family and friends. She worked as a telephone operator and loved knitting. She was a member of the Dayton Knitting Guild and participated in the Prayer Shawl ministry at St. Helen’s Church. Friends and family may visit from 9-10:00am at St. Helen’s Church on Thursday, February 14 followed by Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 am. Velma will then be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton. Arrangements entrusted to Westbrock Funeral Home, Dayton.
