KONEN, Viola Mazeka, 83, of Kettering, Ohio, died Sunday, October 10th, 2021. She was born 9/27/1938 in Beckemeyer, IL., daughter of Mike and Anna (Kalous) Mazeka. She married Norman (in 1971) and he preceded her in death in 1998.
She is survived by her brother, Mike; 3 nieces -Lynn Mazeka; Jean Mazeka (Jim) Vogt; Mary Mazeka (Charles) Schrage; and 1 nephew - John (Karen) Mazeka. She has 1 great-nephew, Justin Vogt and his fiancé, Natalie Wozniak.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her special friend, Lee Miller, who passed away on 10/3/21.
Viola worked as a civil servant for the Dept. of Defense, her government position enabled her to travel abroad and study fine art while living several years in Germany. Her interest in art included portrait painting where she would include her own face into her work. She also enjoyed tole painting, stained glass and pencil art.
After retirement, she and Norman traveled extensively. One of her favorite trips, which she talked about often, was the last trip with Norman on the Rocky Mountaineer thru Canada up to Lake Louise. She also shared a passion for model trains and puzzles with Lee; and really enjoyed her “Happy Hours” (an everyday “must”)
Friends and family may visit from 10-11am on Monday, October 18 at Church of the Ascension followed by Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11am. She will be laid to rest in David’s Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Westbrock Funeral Home.
