STEMLEY, VIRGINIA A., “JINNY” passed away peacefully on June 12, 2014, in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on October 11, 1928, the youngest child of James and Ethel (Hoy) Smith. Born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, she attended the University of Cincinnati, and graduated in 1950 earning degrees in Art and Education. While attending the University, she met her future husband, John J Stemley, and they were married in 1951. After John’s discharge from the Navy, they settled in Dayton, OH and raised their family. Jinny, as she was known to everyone, was a loving wife and mother, who also pursued a retail career with Elder Beerman Department Store. She was an avid bridge player, and was well known for her wit and sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Stemley. She is survived by her four children, Barbara (James) Spitler, David (Deborah) Stemley, Jay (Catherine) Stemley, and Carol Stemley (Jason Rogers), as well as her 8 grandchildren, Amy, Dan, Michelle, Tyler, Brett, Jennifer, Russell, and Steven. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 27th at Church of the Holy Angels, 1322 Brown Street, Dayton. The family will receive visitors from 9-10am at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Avenue, Dayton, OH 45410. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice.
