Hall, W. Leland (Lee), 90, of Centerville, Ohio departed this life to join Polly, his loving and caring wife of 68 years, on April 24, 2015. Beloved father of children David (Nancy) Hall of Monroe, Louisiana; Marsha Mullins of Centerville, Ohio; Douglas “Dusty” (Sarah) Hall of Thackery, Ohio; and grandfather of Andy (Alicia) Hall, Sara (Matt) Dane, Jason (Giny) Mullins, Brian (Heather) Mullins, Logan (Nikki) Hall, Dylan Hall, Emma Hall and many great grandchildren, he will be greatly missed.
Born March 2, 1925, in a farm cottage on the campus of Olney Friends School in Barnesville, Ohio, Lee was a life-long bird watcher and devoted community volunteer. A Cub Scout leader in his early years, he later served the Dayton Audubon Society in multiple roles. With a life-long commitment to the outdoors, Lee planned family vacations that his children will never forget. Once their children were grown, Lee and Polly traveled the North-American continent in search of rare birds. After Polly’s passing, Lee teamed up with his (indoor) cat Tiffany to keep their eyes on the bird feeders.
In 1950, Lee received his Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University. He served our country as a Lieutenant JG in the United States Navy. He retired from Fireman’s Fund American Insurance Company where he worked his entire professional career.
In celebration of Lee’s life, please make a donation to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420. A private memorial service will be held in the future.
