Berger, William Joseph, age 74, of Centerville, Ohio, died peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2018 at River Oaks Alzheimer’s Special Care Center. He was born on June 12, 1943 in Darke County, Ohio, the son of Magloire and Bertha (Grisez)Berger. Bill was a 1961 graduate of Versailles High School. He served in the US Army from October 1961 to October 1963. He went to barber school and was the co-owner of the Golden Shear, Inc., Kettering, Ohio, cutting hair for some four generations. On April 12, 1969 he married Linda Mayo at Sacred Heart Church, Dayton, Ohio. Also surviving are his children, Dr. Jodi Berger, Austin, Texas; Andrew (Laura) Berger, Kettering, Ohio; granddaughter, Caitlyn Black; his siblings John (Barb) Berger; Dick (Bernice) Berger; Doris (Dick) Ware; Nancy (Dan) Streib and Ron Berger, all of Versailles, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Rosalyn Berger, and brother-in-law, Alvin Bruns; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Jerome and Paul, and a sister, Alice. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Bill loved his family, friends, classic cars, fishing, football, cooking, traveling and 50’s music, especially Roy Orbison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at St. Charles Borromeo Church at 12:30pm with Fr. James Riehle celebrant. Burial will follow in Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville.
