William V. Homan

Homan, William V., age 91, of Kettering, died in the comfort of his home on Thursday February 18th, 2016. His wife, Evelyn, preceded him on August 23, 2013 after a beautiful life together for 67 years. They were devoted to each other and family was Bill’s greatest pleasure. Their marriage produced three children; a son, Jim, who died in 2005, leaving his widow, Melissa Homan and their children, Jimmy (wife Yvette) and their daughters, Christine and Eva, Tony (wife Martha) and their children AJ and Alexis, Joey and his daughter, Cora, and Matt (wife Gwen); a daughter, Ann, who is married to Dave Koepke, and their daughters, Miranda and Megan (husband Zachary Siedling) and their daughter, Zoe; a son, Tom, who is married to Susie Alejandrino Homan and their children, Will and Lindsay. Bill was born June 7, 1924 to John L. Homan and Gladys Nicholson Homan. He had one brother, Jack Homan, and his widow, Louise Schlosser Homan. Brothers Jack and Bill worked together along with their father, John Homan, for over 40 years in the family business. Bill grew up in the city of Dayton and graduated from Wilbur Wright High School. He was very proud of his Dayton roots and hometown. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and after, he graduated from the University of Dayton School of Business Administration. He became a lifelong supporter of his alma mater. Bill played a significant role in the growth and success of the 81 year old family business, Allied Supply Company. He was CEO from 1971 to 2004 and remained very proud of the fact it remains a family business. He was the Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Centerville and Sycamore Creek Country Club. He was a charter member of Incarnation Parish in Centerville, and a member of St. Ann’s Parish in Naples, Florida, and St. Charles Parish in Kettering. Bill was an avid golfer and cherished his time spent with many friends on the golf course. He loved spending his winters in Florida. The family gratefully acknowledges the long and loving service of his caretakers, Billy Jo, Renae, Maria, Catherine, Becky, Marti, Dr. Jinyun Wu, Dr. Robert Kiefhaber, and the teams at Kettering Hospital and Vitas Hospice. The family will receive friends Wednesday February 24th from 5-7pm at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road. Mass of Christian will take place Thursday February 25th at 10:30am at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Kettering. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Thank God for a life well lived, cherished by all who knew him and remembered lovingly for his kindness and good works. May he rest in peace.
