MCDONALD Sr., William G. “Bill”, age 93 of Centerville passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016. He was born on June 19, 1923 to the late Joseph McDonald Sr. and Genevieve (Kane) McDonald. Also preceding him in death is his wife, Catherine (Schopler) McDonald; siblings, Genevieve (Bob) Vernon, Tom (Marie) McDonald, Irene (John) Corgan, Muriel (George) Grote, Joseph (Betty) McDonald Jr., brother-in-law, Ed Dirscherl and nephew, Joseph McDonald III. Bill is survived by his sister, Dar Dirscherl; children, Kathy (Paul) Esselstein, Bill (Anne) McDonald Jr, Tom McDonald, Mary McDonald; grandchildren, Laura Esselstein, Michael Esselstein, Kelly (John) Dean, Amanda McDonald, Megan McDonald, Steven McDonald, Kevin McDonald; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Kate, Charlotte Dean and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Bill was born in Farmingdale Long Island, NY. He graduated from the University of Dayton and received his masters at the University of Cincinnati. He became a teacher and coordinator with Patterson-Co-Op High School. The family would like to thank everyone at St. Leonard’s, where Bill enjoyed his golden years. Friends and family may visit from 6-8 pm on Thursday, July 21 at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd. A mass of Christian burial will be at 12:30 pm on Friday, July 22 at St. Leonard’s Church, 8100 Clyo Rd. Interment following at Calvary Cemetery.
