William F. Schmitz

Schmitz, William F., age 87, died May 26, 2015, at St. Leonards Health Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loretta Buehler Schmitz and Theresa Wilken Schmitz and Adolph Schmitz; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Carol Schmitz; and a brother-in-law, John Schmeider. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in WWII in Korea. He worked at General Motors for 40 years. He enjoyed volunteering at St. Leonards for over 25 years and volunteered for many jobs at his former parish, St. Charles Borromeo in Kettering. He was an avid reader, loved to play cards and go fishing. Bill went to Mass every day and prayed the rosary daily. Bill is survived by two sisters, Mary Cay Schmeider and Agnes Fox; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; cousins, especially his caregiver cousin, Martha (“Little Bit”) Loper. There will be a Memorial Mass this Saturday June 27th at 10:00am at St. Leonard Center Chapel. He will be missed by all, especially the whole Loper family.
