Zachary L Fortener

Zachary L. Fortener, age 28 of Kettering passed away Friday, September 15, 2023. Zac leaves behind: his paternal grandmother Joan F. Ritzert, his maternal grandfather William N. Didier, his parents Rob and Jane, a sister Christina, two brothers Samuel, and Joshua, sister-in-law Alice Graham, as well as countless family and friends. Zac graduated from Fairmont High School and attended Sinclair Community College. Zac had a lifelong love of animals. In recent years he was able to adopt several of his own. He had three snakes, three geckos and several fish, both freshwater and brackish. His most recent job was breeding leopard geckos for sale worldwide. Zac loved to spend time at the beaches in South Carolina, with hopes of moving to Edisto Island in the future. He had a passion for video games with The Legend of Zelda series being his favorite. Zac was an avid Catan player, often playing with family and friends. All who knew him would attest to his genuine compassion and kindness. He was extremely selfless and generous, thinking about others first, always finding small ways to make people smile. He will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 am Wednesday September 27 at Ascension Church in Kettering. Visitation on Tuesday, September 26 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Ascension Church and from 10:00-11:00 am before the mass. Please join the family for a luncheon in the Witzman center, immediately following the Liturgy. Burial will take place at a later date in a private ceremony.
