Zella M. Guthrie, 98, passed away Tuesday, January 24th. Born in Kalida, Ohio, Zella was the eldest daughter in the large family of Walter and Frances (Geckle) Ball. She married Jack Guthrie in 1945 and raised three children. Zella was a homemaker until later in life when she began working in the parish office at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin, Ohio, and then in the office at St. Francis Convalescent Home, also in Tiffin. In 2001 Zella moved to Centerville, Ohio to be closer to her children and became an active member of St. Francis of Assisi parish.
Zella was preceded in death by her husband Jack, son Tom and eight brother and sisters. She is survived by two siblings; a sister Evelyn Brickner and a brother, Paul Ball, two children; Paul (Cindy) Guthrie, and Pat (Roger) Frisch, four grandchildren: Adam Frisch, Jill (Pete) Steuer, Katie Guthrie and Brian Guthrie, and three great grandchildren; Elijah, Teagan and Brooklynn Steuer.
On Friday, February 3rd a memorial service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, Ohio 45459. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. followed by a memorial prayer service at 4:45 p.m with dinner afterwards for family and friends.
On Saturday, February 4th, a funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 36 Melmore Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883. After mass, a memorial celebration of Zella's life will be held at the Community Civic Center, 151 South Washington Street in Tiffin for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Francis of Assisi, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, Ohio 45459.
